Project News - Queen Marys University London

Blink Glass will install the Aliva Tardis rainscreen system as part of its recent contract win to design and supply the highly complex glass rainscreen façade for Queen Mary University developed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects. The design of the rainscreen is based upon a mathematical tiling system devised by world renowned mathematician Sir Roger Penrose, who is also a visiting professor at the university. Essentially the design is composed of two rhombuses to create a non repeating pattern across the elevation.

Glass rainscreens are optimal solutions to enable a traditional build using an (SFS) steel frame as an alternative to curtain wall systems. The glass panels can be formed in a variety of shapes and sizes and are produced with either a digital print interlayer or traditional screenprint. Digital print offers vibrant colour reproduction and limitless design possibilities. The mechanical fixings are specially developed and tested with support systems to suit all requirements.

This brings Blink to the forefront of creative glass, not just working with intelligent liquid crystal glass but with digital printing on glass with engineered glass solutions like the tardis anchor. For more information on creative glass solutions contact 0845 0745 736
