The versatility and supreme flexibility of LMC Group’s Blink glass technology may soon be demonstrated in a huge project throughout the city of Rotterdam. The Dutch company UC-media Holland BV is involved in a fiercely competitive tender process and has put forward a plan which it believes, coupled with the company’s strength in depth and extensive experience, will see a positive outcome. If successful, UC-media Holland BV says that the collaboration between itself, LMC Group, and the German company Sigma System Audio-Visuell GmbH will see Blink media screens placed in several key locations within the city and on the underground rail network. The aim of the project is to ‘inspire and inform’ the public, and the cutting edge technology at the heart of Blink glass is integral to achieving this goal. Day and night, any type of advertising message – plain text, visuals or animation – can be projected onto Blink via a multi media projector with relevant software, making it the perfect self-promotion medium and content provider for companies of all types. As Raoul Gelmers, CEO of UC-media Holland BV explained, this is a landmark project of great importance to the city. He explained: “This project will rewrite history in the field of innovation. This will be a show project which will contribute positively to the image of the city. The technology will be used to inform citizens and inspire by using creative images and will contribute to the proud history of the city. It will link people and companies in Rotterdam and reinforce the economy and social cohesion.” Raoul says Blink is ideal for the Rotterdam project as it is a technology that delivers on so many levels. The advertising message or content can be infinitely varied with hourly or daily changes possible ensuring the message can truly match the moment. The Rotterdam project will see LMC Group produce and install Blink on location. The company is regarded as one of the UK’s leading specialist product and project management companies, with years of design, supply and installation expertise in glazing. This knowledge and know-how will be integral to the smooth running of such a high end and far-reaching project. Raoul sees endless opportunities for Blink and describes it as an architect’s and designer’s dream. He explained: “Companies can use their windows to communicate with their target groups but they can also use them for privacy and security. Glass is the future but flexible glass, like Blink, even more so.” This was highlighted when Blink featured on the Dutch equivalent of Tomorrow’s World and received a great reaction. Raoul explained: “We provided 11 Blink screens and LED tubes. The programme focussed on products of the future and the Blink screens gave the director a lot of unique screen shots.” Blink may be described as the future, but with projects such as the one in Rotterdam it is clear that even today this technology is going to play a massive role in shaping the future of advertising and content provision.
